Skoda’s All-New Kamiq Goes Into Production

Corrida Red Skoda Kamiq Side View

There has been a lot of interest in the latest in the Skoda line, but Skoda HQ has finally confirmed that the Skoda Kamiq has gone into production. This highly anticipated latest offering of Skoda new car deals, is officially being produced at the Czech’s primary manufacturing facilities and Australian drivers set to receive the model from 2020.

The Production Facility

Skoda’s all-new Kamiq 2019 has begun heading down the production line at the main factory in the Czech Republic at Mlada Boleslav. This is ahead of the Australian introduction in early 2020.

The new Skoda called Kamiq will serve as the third model in the global Skoda SUV line, landing under the Kodiaq and Karoq larger models.

At the Mlada Boleslav facility, the new Kamiq is being assembled along the Scala, Fabia, Octavia and Karoq and Skoda HQ has invested €100 million to adapt the production line for this new crossover. Skoda HQ has confirmed that the Kamiq is set to be produced at an impressive 400 units per day.

In the past months, Skoda HQ has made provisions in logistics and production to be able to successfully launch the Skoda Kamiq in the SUV segment. According to Skoda board member for logistics and production, Michael Oeljeklaus, the Kamiq is sure to impress customers with many practical features and excellent quality.

What We Know So Far

The Kamiq was revealed at this year’s Geneva motor show and is scheduled to arrive in our showrooms in the first quarter of next year. Since it’s arrival is imminent, Skoda HQ has released quite a few details about this exciting new SUV. We know that the Kamiq has the crisp looks of the current generation Skoda line up, which are further reinforced with neat details such as the LED light clusters that have sharp lines to complement the compact shape to make it far more than a smaller Karoq.

We know the all-new does have the longest wheelbase in its segment, which creates a more spacious cabin and greater rear legroom than any in its class. This larger wheelbase also makes it possible for an impressive 400 litre boot, that can be increased to 1395 litres when the rear seats are folded.

The Kamiq also has fantastic interior quality, so the cabin feels plush and upmarket even compared to the Volkswagen T Cross, which is the model the Kamiq is based on. All the major touchpoints feature soft plastics, and the textures feel very well judged. There are also lots of little flourishes such as perforated leather around the interior door handles that make the cabin feel very luxurious.

It also features the latest Skoda technology including a 9.2 inch centre stack touch screen and 10.25 inch cluster of digital instruments.

If you are considering a Skoda Kamiq in Perth, be sure to call in and see us. The Perth City Skoda team would be delighted to answer any of your queries and allow you to register your interest in the new Skoda Kamiq ahead of its arrival next year.
