A Brief 2019 Skoda Kodiaq 132 TSI Sportline Review

Skoda Kodiaq

The 2019 Skoda Kodiaq 132 TSI Sportline looks like a five seater SUV, but it has seven comfortable seats in a compact package. There are other cars that have successfully pulled off this space defying trick, such as the Renault Koleos, the Nissan X-Trail, and the VW Tiguan Allspace. So, what makes the Skoda Kodiaq 132 TSI Sportline different?

The Kodiaq 132 TSI Sportline

We first saw the Kodiaq here at the start of last year, but the 132 TSI Sportline is a more premium offering with some interesting extra features. Of course, this comes at an additional premium, but it offers a decent value proposition, and you get quite a lot for the extra money.

The Sportline variant has exclusive “Red Velvet” paint that is certainly eye catching, and it is available now as an option of other Kodiaqs for an additional premium. There are three other Sportline colours available that can be found on other variants; they are Magic Black, Moon White, Steel Grey, and Brilliant Silver. The paint colours pair well with the body kit, which has a matching blacked out grille, side mirrors and roof rails. There are also exclusive 20” “Anthracite” spoked alloy wheels.

In the cabin, you will discover: a pair of silver stitched front sports seats (the drivers is power adjustable), a drive mode selector, a customisable performance monitor, paddle shifters and an aluminium finish for the pedals. Of course, the standard Kodiaq 132 TSI kit is still included, such as: LED headlights, a 9.2” gesture control media display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, satellite navigation, privacy glass, dual zone climate control, a proximity key, and a powered tailgate.

Under the Bonnet

As the name suggests, the Kodiaq 132 TSI Sportline has a 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that generates 132kW of power and a maximum torque of 320 Nm. This powerplant is paired with an automatic seven speed dual clutch transmission that supplies the available power to all four wheels. This is not a simple four wheel drive arrangement; the power is supplied to each wheel as required by the driving conditions to provide maximum traction at all times. The braked towing capacity is 2,000kg, so it’s a capable weekend towing vehicle, and the claimed fuel economy is 7.6L/100km combined.

Practicality

Skoda is all about practicality in their recent releases, and this car is no different. The second and third row seats are set on rails making them easy to configure. The 270L boot capacity is extended to a whopping 630L when the third row seats are folded down. There are three cargo nets in the boot and storage areas dotted throughout the cabin. Finally, there is a single USB port located under the dash and three 12v power outlets, one up front, one in the second row of seats and a third in the cargo area.

If they are searching for a new Skoda Kodiaq, Perth based drivers should contact Skoda Perth, and we would be delighted to schedule a no obligation test drive for them.
