The Best Way to Wax Your Skoda Yeti 2016

Skoda Yeti Roadtrip

With the news that the Skoda Yeti is to be replaced, many Yeti fans have been wondering how to preserve their vehicle and try to keep it looking its best for the years to come. One of the best ways to accomplish this is with regular waxing. However, polishing your car is more than just slapping on some wax. So, here we will explore the best way to wax your Yeti and ensure it retains its glossy glory.

Before you can even approach your Skoda Yeti with that tin of wax, you need to ensure that it is properly washed. Any dirt remaining on your vehicle can compromise the overall appearance of the waxed paintwork and could even cause scratching or damage. If you want to avoid the automatic car wash, use the two bucket method to ensure that your Skoda Yeti 2016 is washed properly. Keep one bucket for soapy water with the other for clean water, to avoid marking or streaking the paint.

To properly wax your vehicle, you will not only need a good quality wax, but also microfibre applicators and towels. If you want to speed up the waxing process, you will also need an orbital or rotary polisher fitted with a buffing pad. However, this isn’t strictly necessary.

The optimum conditions for waxing a car is a cool day. Hot sunlight can cause the polish to dry too quickly, which can prevent it from properly bonding. Apply the wax to a small area and use circular motions. It is a good idea to stick to one panel and move around the vehicle methodically. Use a little wax and built up, rather than just slapping it on. If you allow excess polish to dry on your paintwork, it is just a waste of good wax. The polish will need to dry to be properly activated, so take your time. Remove any excess from non painted surfaces using a soft cloth before it can harden. Once the product has activated, use circular motions to polish the paintwork and remove any excess wax.

The intervals between waxing will depend on a number of factors. How you store your Yeti, your driving style and where you live will affect how frequently you should wax. If you live near the beach or you are on the road for a 1000 kilometres each week, it will need to be done more regularly. So, keep an eye on your paintwork, and when it starts to look a little less glossy, your Yeti may be asking for another wax coat.
